RAPTOR GALAXY
Commander: Loremaster [REDACTED]
Aide-de-Camp: [Unknown]
Unit Status: [Unknown]
Battlefield Designation: Alpha Galaxy
Unit Nickname: [Unknown]
Unit Insignia: [Unknown]
Raptor (Alpha) Galaxy was created out of the need for an acceptable location for Intelser agents returning from their intelligence gathering missions throughout the Inner Sphere. Not fully trusting the reports, or loyalty, of the Wolf’s Dragoons, Clan Jade Falcon scattered a Galaxy’s worth of their own warriors and support crew throughout the Inner Sphere. In the years leading up to Operation REVIVAL, these warriors blended into the populations of the planets they were assigned to and report back on the nature and state of the Inner Sphere. Shortly before the start of Operation REVIVAL Clan Jade Falcon command recalled these agents and ordered them to meet up with the main Clan Jade Falcon touman in the Deep Periphery.
The prospect of having hundreds of Clanners who have lived in and were possibly swayed by corrupting influence of the Inner Sphere return to the line units of Clan Jade Falcon was a serious concern for the Clan Council. To mitigate this the Khan Elias Crichell order the creation of Raptor Galaxy to be a holding location for these less than desirable warriors, until it could be determined that they were fit to return to the touman.
Those fortunate agents that were able to make the trip started gathering at a Deep Periphery station for a debriefing by the Clan’s Loremaster. They were informed that they would be tested as if they were graduating cadets on Ironhold and upon passing their Trial of Position, they would be assigned to the newly created Raptor Galaxy. Additional evaluations would be done by their Galaxy’s commander, Loremaster [REDACTED], on whether they were fit to command MechWarriors in the Clan before they would be given command positions within the Galaxy. Furthermore, Intelser was being disbanded and they were to be some of the first agents of the new Clan Watch. Raptor Galaxy would be the Watch’s fast response strike force, dropping onto planets that needed additional, unconventional assistance during Operation REVIVAL.
79TH RAPTOR TALON CLUSTER
Commander: Star Colonel Amani
Unit Status: Regular
Unit Nickname: None
Unit Insignia: A jade feathered dromaeosaur, clutching a basket hilted broadsword in its feet. A tattered tartan sash is wrapped around the blade at where it meets the hilt.
The 79th Raptor Talon Cluster (R79T) was created shortly before the start of Operation REVIVAL to be the assault Cluster for Clan Jade Falcon’s “Raptor” Galaxy, the fast strike unit attached to the Clan’s Watch and under the command of the its Loremaster. Like the rest of Raptor Galaxy the 79th’s general makeup are warriors who previously served in the Inner Sphere as Intelser agents, are skilled but less than desired by other officer, are freeborn, or some combination of the three. The commander of this Cluster of misfits is Star Colonel Amani of the Bloodhouse Pryde a former Intelser turned Watch agent.
The 79th started with Star Colonel Amani’s return to the touman from a multiyear stent on the House Steiner planet of Solaris VII, gathering intelligence on the military readiness of the Inner Sphere. While there the cosmopolitan nature of Solaris City allowed him to learn a thing or two about the various cultures and customs of the Inner Sphere, something that would be invaluable in pacifying planets liberated by Clan Jade Falcon forces. With little more than a Star’s worth of captured Inner Sphere BattleMechs, the Confederate-Class DropShip and its crew that was assigned to him during his Intelser missions, the handful of technicians that traveled with him to the Inner Sphere.
For a year leading up to Operation REVIVAL this was his Cluster’s make up. To improve his skills he fought and trained with the Delta Galaxy until more of the Intelser warriors made their way back to the Clan’s touman. The Cluster grew at a trickle at first and eventually started to receive Clan-made equipment. All the incoming former Intelser warriors had to be retested and once Operation REVIVAL began the warriors in the Cluster were reevaluated based on their abilities and placed in command positions as they were deemed fit. Now the Cluster is finally a true Cluster in its makeup fighting along the front-lines of the liberation of the Inner Sphere with Gamma Galaxy.
Like most Clan Jade Falcon Clusters, the 79th is traditional in its organization, but not in its culture. The 79th is a unit that is accepting of the various types “outcasts” that the returning Intelser agents represented. For one, they knew that expecting the forces of the Inner Sphere to follow the zellbringen tradition was a futile effort and it was quickly abandoned when facing House units. As many of the warriors in the unit have spent several years living among the people of the Inner Sphere, which make interactions with freeborns within and outside the Cluster a more pleasant experience. This also influenced how they administer the planets they liberate. The 79th’s warriors tend to overlook some of the more unClanlike practices as long as the population maintains a peaceful coexistence with their new leaders. This does not mean that insurrectionists are not dealt with swiftly and decisively, but for those who are accepting of their Clan liberators the 79th allows them to continue their lives relatively unimpeded.
