MechWarriors,
I am looking for four warriors to fill the ranks of the 79th Raptor Talon Cluster’s Cluster Command Star. Interested applicants need to be willing to train and drop together during the late night/early morning hours in the North American timezones, typically after 10:00 pm or 11:00 pm Pacific Standard Time.
I envision Cluster Command Star will be a casual Star that is a jack-of-all-trades but master of none on the battlefield. We will be available to fill any role wherever we are needed within the Cluster. To do this I think our typical Drop Deck will be as follows (with my personal ‘Mech of Choice added in):
Heavy or Assault Brawler (Timber Wolf)
Heavy or Medium Line/LRM (Night Gyr)*
Heavy or Medium Harasser/Quick Response (Summoner)
Medium or Light Scout/Spotter (Kit Fox)*
* The Star will coordinate drops and builds to make it so that if a warrior is bringing a LRM heavy ‘Mech onto the field they will have a spotter to help designating targets. Ideally the LRM-Boat MechWarrior will act as spotter for another LRM-Boat in another wave.
What I hope to gain from this is that if we train to be versatile we will then fight better when we need to perform as a Star dedicated to one role than we would if we specialized in say, fire support but what is needed is brawlers. Also, we will be typically be dropping during a time when Faction Warfare action is low so being flexible to what we will be fighting with and against will be our asset. We will be the OmniMech of Stars.
Training will take place on Thursday nights and initially will be live fire exercises through Quick Drops while we get to know our fighting style and what we need to work on the most. Eventually, if there are enough warriors online who are interested in joining in some Thursday training we can start working on specific things in the private lobby. Saturday nights and occasionally Friday nights will be dedicated to Faction Warfare, with Quick Drops happening if we cannot find fights in FW.
Since we are a casual Star, the ‘Mechs you drop with will not be strictly restricted but we will try to coordinate our Decks and builds. Also, ideally you will own the ‘Mechs you will be taking into Faction Warfare, and you will have at least the Elite Skill level finished with modules for your build, but this is not an immediate deal breaker to get in the Star.
If some casual late-night MWO at least twice a week is something you would be interested in, comment below.
